¿Cuánto pagas de más por pedir pizza en app? Little Caesars: mostrador vs delivery - Estado de cuenta afore

Ordering food through an app is incredibly convenient, but that convenience comes at a cost we rarely see in full. To measure this, I compared Little Caesars' in-store prices in Mexico against those on apps like Rappi and Uber Eats. The difference is greater than it seems.

The cheapest pizza isn't that cheap on the app.

The Pepperoni Hot-N-Ready, the chain's best-selling item, costs around $99 at the counter . On the app, it might appear for $139 . That's $40 more for the same pizza, a 40% markup before adding delivery and tip.

Something similar happens with specialty pizzas:

ProductCounterAppDifference Pepperoni Hot-N-Ready | $99 | $139 | +$40
Hawaiian Hula | $179 | $209 | +$30
3 Meat Treat | $179 | $229 | +$50

Reference prices; may vary depending on the branch and the current promotion.

How much is it per month?

If you order a pepperoni pizza through an app once a week, you'll pay about $160 extra per month just for the price, not including delivery or tip. That's almost $2,000 pesos per year. That's money that disappears without you even noticing, just for the convenience of not having to go out.

Combo deals: Do you save money or not?

Here's where it gets interesting. Not all combos save the same amount, and some save almost nothing:

  • Crazy Combo (Crazy Bread + Crazy Sauce): Separately it costs $80 ($55 + $25) and the combo is $69. You save $11.
  • Complete Meal (pizza + Crazy Bread + Crazy Sauce + 2L soda): On the app, buying everything separately would cost you around $281, and the combo costs $239. You save $42.
  • Party Package (2 pizzas + Crazy Bread + Crazy Sauce + soda): Separately on the app they would be around $420, and the package is $369. You save $51.

The lesson is simple: if you're going to order more than one item, the combo is almost always the best deal. And if you can stop by the store, the savings multiply.

Three rules for spending less on fast food

  1. Compare prices before ordering. The app price isn't the actual price of the product. Check the price at the counter.
  2. Use the combo deals with a calculator. Don't assume every combo saves you money: add up the individual prices and compare.
  3. Pick it up yourself when you can. If the branch is on your way, you'll save on the app fee, shipping, and tip.

For this analysis, I put together a table with the in-store and app prices for the entire menu, and a column indicating which combos actually save you money. I'm sharing it here in case anyone finds it useful for comparing prices before ordering: Little Caesars Mexico price guide .

Ultimately, it's not about stopping app orders altogether, but about knowing how much you're paying for the convenience. Sometimes it's worth it. Other times it's $40 you could keep for yourself.

Do you notice a big difference between the in-store and app prices? Which chains do you see this with most?
